Physiotherapy for Pelvic Girdle Pain in Worthing
Pelvic girdle pain is particularly common during pregnancy and can make everyday movements surprisingly difficult. Walking, getting dressed, turning in bed, getting in and out of the car or standing on one leg can all become uncomfortable.
Pain may be felt around the lower back, buttocks, hips, pubic area or pelvis and can sometimes move between different areas. Although it can be worrying, pelvic girdle pain does not necessarily mean that there is damage occurring in your pelvis.
Our assessment looks at how you move, what activities aggravate your symptoms and what your body is currently able to tolerate. We can also look at strength, mobility and movement patterns to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.
Treatment is focused on helping you stay as active as possible while gradually improving your strength and confidence. This may include exercises, movement advice, activity modification and strategies for managing everyday tasks. As your symptoms improve, we can progressively build your physical capacity so that you can return to normal activities with greater confidence.
