Physiotherapy for Pelvic Pain in Worthing
Pelvic pain can be difficult to understand, particularly when there doesn’t seem to be one obvious cause. It can affect the pelvis, lower abdomen, hips, lower back or pelvic floor and may change depending on your activity, position, bladder or bowel function, or other factors.
Pelvic pain can occur for a number of different reasons, including changes in pelvic floor muscle function, pregnancy and childbirth, previous surgery, musculoskeletal problems and some gynaecological or bowel conditions. Understanding what is contributing to your symptoms is an important part of your assessment.
Our specialist physiotherapist will take the time to understand your symptoms and how they are affecting your day-to-day life. We may assess your movement, strength, breathing, pelvic floor function and how your symptoms respond to different activities. We will then explain what we think may be contributing to your pain and work with you on a personalised plan.
Treatment may include education, exercises, breathing strategies, movement work and gradually increasing your tolerance to activities that have become difficult. The aim is not simply to reduce your symptoms in the short term, but to help you understand your body and feel more confident managing your symptoms.
